In the last three years, the progressive government of Chief Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani has taken a number of important decisions for the welfare and upliftment of forest dwellers.
CA During the last three years, on 15th January 2016, the Chief Minister started implementation of 'Paisa' (Panchayat Extension to the Arias' rules under the provisions of Gujarat State Panchayat Act giving special rights to Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas of tribal areas in Vanbandhu Kalyan Mela.
203 gram sabhas have been given special right to take decisions for development from local level including forest products and secondary minerals.
This is an innovative initiative by the government, which will benefit about 1500 Agaria families in phases. In the last three years, more than 3 lakh tribal students have been credited with Gujarat Kuma's X Scholarship and Gavesh assistance directly to their bank accounts.
To start coaching classes of Knit and JEE 1.50 lakh milch cattle have been distributed at a cost of ૨ 2.50 crore to make tribal women self-reliant in dairy business.
As many as 10,000 students received excellent accommodation and meals through 12 Samaras Hostels, which has resulted in a significant increase in the literacy rate among Vanbandhu students.
