Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Addmission in STD 6 


Introduction The Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in accordance with the National Education Policy (18).  At present Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is functioning in 7 States and 05 Union Territories. 

 All these schools are co-educational residential schools, the entire financial responsibility of which is handled by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous body run by the Government of India.  Admission to these schools is given through Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) from 6th standard.  

In these schools from Std. 6 to 8 in mother tongue / regional language and then English, Mathematics and Science English and Social Science are taught in Hindi language.  Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya students' standard 10 and 12 board examinations are conducted by 'Central Board of Secondary Education' - New Delhi.  Apart from education, accommodation, meals, uniforms and books are provided free of cost in these schools, only Rs.  500 / - monthly fee is taken in the form of ‘Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi’.  Fees are waived for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, all female students and students belonging to BPL families.  Employees who are entitled to education allowance for their children are charged Rs. 1500 / - per month or education allowance, whichever is less. 

 Fees are also waived for students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, all students and students below the poverty line (BPL).  Such a government 


Selection and Admission 3.1 Passing the entrance examination alone does not give the student the right of admission in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.  The candidate selected for admission has to submit all the required documents as determined by the committee.  Until then temporary admission will be counted.  Students are advised to get the school leaving certificate only after verification of your documents and determination of admission by the concerned Navodaya. 

 2.2 The decision of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti regarding any objection shall be binding and final for the student. 

 4.2 Candidates who have been selected or not selected will not be shown the marks obtained in the examination. 

 3.4 There is no provision for re-examination of answer scripts or re-examination of total marks, as the result of the examination is prepared by computer.  Adequate accuracy is maintained at various stages before the result is prepared.  

3.5 The parents of the students should note that as per the scheme of NVS, students from Hindi speaking states are transferred to non-Hindi speaking states and students from non-Hindi speaking states are transferred to Std-9 for each academic year.  If the student / parent selected for transfer refuses, the student will be denied admission from the school. 

 3.6 Students and parents should keep in mind that the student will have the right to get admission in the same district in which he has passed the entrance examination, under no circumstances will he be able to get admission in Navodaya Vidyalaya in another district.  In case of transfer of father / guardian, the student will not be transferred to any other Navodaya Vidyalaya.  

3.7 Students of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) as well as Other Backward Classes (OBC) will have to present the certificate obtained by the competent officer of SC / ST / OBC at the time of admission.  Students who have been selected in the reserved quota of OBC category should have OBC Certificate (copy attached) prescribed by the Central Government before March 30 of the year of admission.  E.g.  If the student wants to get admission for the year 209-2, then the certificate date should be 30th March 303 or earlier. 
 3.8 A student applying for admission in a rural reserve will have to submit a certificate stating that he / she has been studying in Std. 6, 7 and 8 in a government recognized school in a rural area. 
 3.9 Disabled student (Physically Handicapped, Deaf - Deaf, Blind Handicapped) who has been selected for admission in that category will have to submit the certificate issued by the District Chief Health Officer at the time of admission.

  3.10 A student belonging to a different caste shall submit a certificate of competent authority regarding the non-caste in the format prescribed by the State. 

 There is no provision of reservation for such students.
Eligibility for Admission for All Candidates: 

4.1 J - Candidates studying in a government or government recognized school of that district who can apply only for Avinvodaya Vidyalaya in Tejilla, not for another district.  If so, it will be considered valid for the old boundaries of the district. 

 4.2 A student who was born before the date of 1-2-2008 and after the date of 20-2-2017 will be considered ineligible for admission.  This rule applies to all reserved categories.  Including SC / ST and OBC.  The case of suspected students seeking admission and older will be referred to the Medical Board in which the decision of the Medical Board will be binding and final. 

 4.3 Student studying in Std-9 in a government / government recognized institution in the year 2021-2 is eligible for the student entrance examination.  If the student has studied in National Institute of Open Education (NIOS-Open School) then the school should have NIOS accredited certificate and the student should have studied in the same district (NIOS). 

 Must have B certificate. Student should be studying in Std-9 in the year 2021-2. Student who has passed Std-8 in previous years is not eligible to appear for this examination.  Must be a recognized school. Candidate should have successfully passed Std-6 in the year 2021-26. Student will get real admission in Std-9 subject to the above conditions in the year 206-

 4.4.  Must have completed complete studies in Std. 6, 7 and 8 in a recognized school. Must have studied in all sessions in every standard in a rural school

 4.5.  National Institute of Open Education (NIOS) B Certificate must be submitted before 30th September 2021. In order to prove that NIOS student is a student in rural area, the student must have the certificate of Mamlatdar, District Magistrate for living in rural area for last three years.  Students studying in urban or notified area will not get the benefit of rural reserve.  

4.6 A student who has not got admission in Std-9 before 15th September 2021 will be considered ineligible to apply.  4.7 No student will be given the opportunity to appear for the second entrance examination under any circumstances.  For students in rural areas: 19 At least 5% of the seats which will be reserved for school students in rural areas of the district, the remaining seats will be allotted to students in urban areas.  2) A student wishing to get admission in a rural reserve should have studied continuously in Std. 6, 7 and 8 in a government recognized school in a rural area.  Besides, the student should have studied in the rural area school of the district in which he wants to get admission in the entire academic year of Std.  3) A student studying under free education under ‘National Institute of Open Education’ (NIOS) has to submit a rural housing certificate issued by the Collector / Mamlatdar / Taluka Development Officer.

For urban area students

A student who has studied only one day in a school in an urban area during the academic year in Std-6, 8 or 9 and has passed one or more of these schools will be considered as an urban area student.  Areas declared by subsequent government declaration will be considered as urban area, remaining areas will be considered as rural area.

  For students of different castes:. 

 There is no separate provision for candidates of other castes. They will be considered in the male caste for reservation.  Similarly sub-castes like rural / urban, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, crippled etc. will also be included in the male caste.

Reserved Vacancies 

1) At least 5% vacancies will be filled by students from rural areas and the remaining vacancies will be allotted to candidates from urban areas of the district.  

2) Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students will get the benefit of the reserve based on their population in the district.  But this reserve will not be less than the national average reserve 15% for Scheduled Castes and 2.5% for Scheduled Tribes which can be a maximum of 50% of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.  Also the student will be selected. 

 3) 5% seats will be reserved for OBC students.  The benefit of OBC category will be given to the students of the caste determined on the basis of public resolutions from time to time by the Central Government.  ‘Other backward class students will not be considered as normal class students.

  4) At least 1/2 seats will be reserved for girls.  

5) The benefit of the reserve will be available for the disabled student (physically handicapped, deaf-mute, visually impaired handicapped) as per the rules of the Government of India.  ** In case of blindness any one of the following will be considered valid. 

 (i) Complete blindness 

(ii) The number of spectacles worn to reduce visual impairment should not be more than 8/50 or 50/200 (Snelan).  (iii) Vision limit should be 40 degrees or more.  .

For deafness / deafness hearing ability should be 30 decibels or more.  ** Impaired mobility, osteoporosis, muscular dysfunction or cerebral palsy will be considered paralysis. 

Following is the list of certificates to be submitted by the students who have been selected on an experimental basis for admission at the time of verification.  Certificates 

1) Certificate of date of birth. 

 2) Evidence of eligibility as per the conditions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

  3) The guardian of the student who gets admission in the rural reserve space has to give the rural area certificate of the competent authority which will show that the student is studying in a school located in a rural area.  

4) NIOS student will have to bring the certificate of residence in the appropriate format.  

5) Other required documents.
